Lantmäteriet produces topographical maps that cover the entire country. On them, terrain differences in altitude, roads, paths, trails, settlements, etc., are seen.
The map is called terrain map for the majority of the country, except the maps that cover the mountain range, which are called logically Mountain Maps.
Mountain Map 1:100,000 is the most common map to use if you do a longer tour in the mountains. The map series comprises 23 map sheets and are designated with the old county letters (W, Z, AC, BD) and one number. The area between Abisko and Kebnekaise with Kungsleden (The Royal Trail) is called, for example, BD 6.
At each hut on this website, and in the various tour suggestions, is the map stated as the most suitable for tours in the area.
If you do day tours in the mountains, you can advantageously use the mountain map with the scale 1:50,000, which will be more detailed, easier to read and simpler to plan your route from. Even this map series is designated with county letters and numbers. Today, there is this map series for the entire southern part of the mountain range and for some individual, popular places in Norrbotten. For Kebnekaise, Lantmäteriet has designed a map with the scale 1:20,000.
