STF Hostel Nora
Fancy interrailing by car? Then stay at the STF Hostel Nora, an original sleeper train from 1931. Sleep in railway cabins situated along the lakeside track, beside Nora’s stately stationhouse where everything exudes trains, steam and history.
It’s also possible to take a trip on the railbus or steam train.
The hostel train compartments have two or three beds in each. There are toilets in the coaches and the showers are in the old station bathroom, just 100 m from the train. The saloon car has comfortable first class armchairs where you can watch TV or sit and read, and there’s even a shared kitchen.
When you’ve had your fill of trains and railway history, you can discover Nora’s charming city centre. Admire the traditional 18th- and 19th-century wooden houses, cosy inner courtyards, cobblestone streets and waterfront boardwalk. Lake swimming and fishing can be enjoyed in Norasjön and the boat Plaskus can take you to the island of Alntorp with its show garden, bathing place and café.
