STF Hostel Mariestad

The hostel is centrally located in Mariestad’s old town, a charming area with historic low houses. The hostel, which opened in 1944, is unique, both in terms of its historic setting and location down by the port.

Mariestad is an historic city, which has retained many of its older buildings and charm. But the hostel, which dates back to the 1600s, is the only building that gives an insight into how Mariestad’s early trading centres looked. On this site was an old tannery, which processed hides in wooden vats. Now it provides comfortable accommodation in double or multiple-bed rooms with a shower and toilet.

Along with the classical city centre, the fascinating and picturesque Göta Canal attracts many visitors. Take a boat trip and enjoy Sweden's blue ribbon and its many locks. There is also a cycle route that follows the canal.
