STF Hostel Årås
Årås has been characterised by the nobility over many centuries. The Årås kvarn estate was once owned by the family Gyllenstierna who were state councillors to the Vasa kings.
Årås and the surrounding districts are rich in ancient monuments and church ruins, including Ekehagens fornminnesby (ancient monument village).
The hostel is housed in a wing of the historic estate. The building was once the home of the engineer of the mill and power station and was therefore called the Mejeriet (dairy). Today the rooms are charming and individually decorated, meeting all the requirements of a modern hostel.
The hostel is located between the two lakes Jogen and Vållern and there are great opportunities for fishing and boating. Good hiking trails line the surrounding area and it’s possible to rent a bike to go exploring. For those wanting to swing their clubs there are golf courses just over 10 km away.
