STF Hostel Ransbysäter
Pilgrimages to Trondheim to see the grave of Olaf II of Norway broadened the medieval travellers’ views and served as a holiday or adventure of sorts.
Today’s tourists make the same journey for the same reason, but also come here to go bike riding, horse riding and fishing.
The hostel is set in fields that have been farmed for over a thousand years. Today mountain cows, goats and horses still graze in the untouched meadows. The hostel consists of rustic timbered cabins without electricity, and food is cooked over an open fire. Every cabin has three to six beds and a fireplace for heating, and guests have to chop their own wood and bring water from the well… just like the good old days!
