STF Hostel Ransäter/Prästmyren
Prästmyren in Ransäter was built as a smallholding around 1830. Today, it is a cosy hostel in idyllic surroundings, with plenty to do. Play in the barn, take a sauna or swim, play billiards or take a trip to Mårbacka, where Selma Lagerlöf lived.
The farm has a calm and peaceful location, surrounded by forest and open fields with grazing animals, far from the noise and bustle of traffic. The only sounds here are those of the natural world – cranes, deer, sheep and geese make their presence heard.
You need never be bored at Ransäter. We have our own “games loft” with billiards, darts, table tennis and other activities. We arrange games in the barn for younger children, while adults can enjoy many art galleries, museums and Selma Lagerlöf’s home, Mårbacka. The forests of Värmland are perfect for hiking, and fishing opportunities abound (feel free to borrow our boat).
The name, Prästmyren, comes from our closeness to the old vicarage in the parish. In recent years, we have kept large holdings of sheep, pigs and hens, etc. But today, all that is left is a noble flock of Skåne geese, who welcome our guests. The old sties, stalls and coops have all been pleasantly rebuilt to give 36 sleeping places in 10 rooms. Six of these have two or three beds each with a common kitchen, while the others have places for 3-6 people and each has its own kitchen and TV. All the rooms have comfortable double beds.
Welcome!
