STF Hostel Uppsala/Vandraren
Vandraren is a modern hostel in Uppsala located in walking distance to the town centre and Gamla Uppsala (the old town), with the old Kungshögarna (Royal Mounds) that were once the sacrificial grounds for the Aesir faith, and the Gamla Uppsala Museum.
During term times the hostel is used as a student residence and rooms are to a high standard with their own toilet and shower. There is also a shared kitchen, lounge with TV and a laundry room.
Uppsala has a long and vivid history. In the centre of Uppsala lies the Domkyrkan (Cathedral), which dates back to the 13th century, and Uppsala Slott (castle), which was built during the rule of King Gustav Vasa (1523-1560). The oldest university in Northern Europe is also here and was founded in the 15th century. Uppsala is a wonderful walking city, and there are several beautiful gardens and parks including Linnéträdgården (a reconstruction of how the Linnaeus Botanical Garden looked during the mid-1700s), Botaniska trädgården (the Botanical Gardens) and Stadsparken (the town park).
