STF Hostel Nåttarö
Nåttarö is a beautiful island in Stockholm's Southern archipelago, well known for its fine sandy beaches Skarsand and Stora sand on the island's Eastern and Northern sides. You can easily get here from Nynäshamn.
The island’s wonderful seafront cliffs, suitable for bathing, were formed by the last ice age, which also left behind a Giants kettle at Östermar. Do not miss the Queen cave where Queen Maria Eleonora is said to have hidden during her flight from Sweden in 1640. Nåttarö was proclaimed a nature reserve in 2008 and you can find excellent hiking forests and trails on the island. Look for the fallow deer!
In 2009 the archipelago's first underwater path opened at Nåttarö, a 250 meter long snorkelling trail. A dozen plates at 1.5 meter’s depth tell about life under the Baltic Sea surface, and about fish, plants, bugs and shipwrecks.
At the hostel there is a well equipped kitchen you are welcome to use, and on the island there is both a shop where you can replenish stores and a restaurant where you can spoil yourself with something good to eat and drink.
