STF Hostel Julita
Julita is in the heart of Södermanland on the shores of lake Öljaren. The hostel lies in a scenic location on the grounds of the Julita outdoor museum – Sveriges Lantbruksmuseum (The Agricultural Museum of Sweden).
Guests have access to the large green areas of parkland beside the lake.
This outdoor museum was created at the beginning of the 20th century, on an estate with a rich history and including: parks, gardens, herb gardens, classic interiors, a dairy, fire station, church, brickworks and everything else that belonged to this large landed property. The Julita estate has more than 360 buildings, including cottages and farmhouses, 200 cows, forests and vast hunting grounds. The hostel was built in 2000 and is designed to blend naturally into the old settlement.
During high season it’s possible to visit the outdoor museum and all the open buildings on your own. Children love Pettsongården (Pettson’s farm) and Pettsons lekstuga (Pettson’s playhouse), inspired by author Sven Nordqvist’s popular children’s books, while adults can enjoy a visit to Julita’s shop and garden boutique.
