STF Hostel Långasjö

In the ‘emigration district’ of Vilhelm Moberg lies lake Långasjö and it’s only a few kilometres to Klasatorpet where the famous movie based on ‘The Emigrants’ was filmed.

Over a period of 80 years, more than 1000 people from Långasjö immigrated to the USA. The history of those who returned is displayed in a small museum in the Guldgrävarstugan (Gold Digger’s Cabin).

The hostel is beautifully situated in the middle of a small village, in renovated church stables which form a long, genuine, red painted row. The stables originate from the middle of the 19th century and from the outside the building looks just like it did over a hundred years ago.

We are also placed in the Kingdom of Crystal ‘Glasriket’ and there are several glassworks within a few dozen kilometres. Beautiful walking paths surrounding the lake, game fishing and rich birdlife characterise the surroundings. When the weather is warm, take a soothing lake dip in nearby Långa.
