STF Hotel & Hostel Kivik/Kivikstrand
Kivik is best known for its market, its apples and the late Swedish writer Fritiof Nilsson Piraten, although there’s more to the place than that.
There are magnificent captain’s residences alongside modest fishing cabins, and walking tours though old Kivik are very popular.
The hostel is in one of the best locations in Österlen, just a stone’s throw from the ocean and in the middle of the old village of Kivik. Originally the village school, the hostel was built in 1879 and has seen generations come and go through its doors. The rooms are newly decorated in the style of the building’s era, and many have ocean views. The breakfast restaurant also functions as a café during summer and entices guests with homemade ice cream and Italian snacks.
Down by the ocean, a stone’s throw from the hostel, there’s a boule pitch, playground and sauna with a bathing jetty. The Skåneleden (Skåne trail) passes the building offering lovely walks towards Haväng and Stenshuvud. There are also many opportunities to go riding along the coast or on the plains of Skåne.
