Kivik in Österlen is perhaps best known for its annual markets in July, which attract many visitors. The area also offers superb hiking in beautiful rolling landscape, and relaxing swims on mile-wide beaches.
During early summer thousands of apple trees bloom in Kivik. The apples are harvested in autumn and then sent to the cider factory. Art lovers should enjoy the area’s galleries and handicraft stores.
Hanöbris hostel, the old favourite spot of late Swedish writer Fritiof Nilsson Piraten, is nowadays accommodation out of the ordinary. It’s situated in the heart of Kivik and walking distance to the harbour, beach, grocery store and restaurants.
The Stenshuvud National Park attracts many tourists and is the most southern national park in Sweden. The lengendary hill at Stenshuvud rises 97 metres and offers tremendous views, while fields of sand stretch out in wide plains before reaching the swim-friendly beach beside the ocean.
