STF Hostel Smygehuk

You cannot get more south – at least not in Sweden. The southern-most hostel in Sweden is located in Smygehuk, a stone’s throw from the fishing port and its fish smokery, café and port warehouse filled with art and handicraft.

Guests stay in the old lighthouse-keeper’s quarters at Smygehuk lighthouse. There are eleven cosy rooms that are reminders of the past. What was once Hittinus Hjelte Mattson’s (the lighthouse keeper’s maid) small room in the attic is today a beautiful double bedroom with views over the ocean and lighthouse. The house has a large shared kitchen; and bathroom facilities are outside the rooms.

The hostel is close to golf courses and along Kustvägen, the coastal road, you can visit shopping centres, potters and silversmiths. The small roads of Söderslätt and its villages, churches and wide cornfields are exciting to discover by bicycle.
