STF Hostel Köpingsvik/Solberga gård

The hostel lies on the edge of Köpingsvik bay, five kilometres from the town of Borgholm on the island of Öland. It offers guests an old fashioned, peaceful environment in buildings that date back to the mid 19th century.

The hostel is situated on a farm that was once one of the largest in Öland. Today the farm focuses on its crop of ecological vegetables: KRAV-branded asparagus (KRAV is the Swedish organic stamp), garlic and pumpkin are all grown here and sold at the farm store, and organic lamb and pigs are also raised on its pastures. There are many possibilities for games and relaxation, and you can stroll about the farm’s vegetable gardens and get a sense of the passage of time from the historic buildings.

All the rooms are large, and guests are accommodated in the Stora huset (big house), Magasinet (warehouse) or in the newly built apartments. The grand Stora Huset dates from the middle of the 19th century. The Magasinet, which was once the granary and workers’ accommodation, also dates from this time. Stora Huset retains many original features, including a beautiful old baking oven and functioning tile fireplaces in some of the rooms.
