The King's Trail

A tour that takes you directly out to the mountains already on the first day, followed by six wonderful days of skiing. This ski week offers slightly different routes outside of the usual trails, often in untouched snow.

Some day stages are relatively long, while others provide time for outings without a pack. The high alpine area around Vistas and Nallo is a fantastic skiing area that is known to many. Another gem in the Lapland Mountains that we visit are the mountains along the border at Unna Allakas.

When the tour travels partially into a region with large differences in altitude and the longest day stage exceeds 20 km, you as a participant must have good experience from longer winter tours in the mountains with a backpack and be in good condition.

Program

Day 1

Gathering in Nikkaluokta after arrival of the first bus, around 12.00. Lunch at the restaurant. Shared transport the approximate 30 km up the Vistasvagge Valley. We ski the last 5 km to Vistas Mountain Hut, located in a region where snowmobile and tracked vehicle traffic are heavily regulated.

Day 2

The ski week begins with a day tour in the area around Vistas. There are many exciting alternatives in the area. The terrain around the hut is challenging and high alpine, but there are also valleys that offer slightly more relaxed skiing, maybe we should go to Nallo? Weather, wind and the group’s wishes decided the day tour.

Day 3

We continue north through Vistasvagge, where the valley narrows and mountain precipices rise almost 1,000 metres above us! The day’s goal is Alesjaure, where you can enjoy a wood heated sauna in the evening. The stage is 18 km and has an altitude difference of +300 metres before the hill down to Alesjaure begins.

Day 4

We continue our ski tour towards the northwest and Unna Allakas. The stage offers both true climbs and long descents before the huts appear. 15 km.

Day 5

Day tour in the area surround Unna Allakas. The region has very nice skiing in both low terrain and more alpine regions. Maybe we should do a tour over the border into Norway? Actual conditions decide what we do.

Day 6

The week’s longest, yet easy skiing stage takes us to Abisko National Park and the Abiskojaure huts. 24 km.

Day 7

After breakfast, we put on our skis for the last time this week. At the Abisko Mountain Station, a sauna and dinner await! The tour ends in conjunction with the train’s departure at around 17.30. 15 km.
