STF Hostel Tärnaby/Åkerlundska gården

Live in a cosy and picturesque environment beside the mountain slopes, nestled between Ingemarbacken and Anjabacken, but still close to Blå Vägen and the centre of Tärnaby. The hostel has great views of the mountain and over lake Gäutan.

The hostel was opened in 1927 and soon became known as ‘a fairy castle in the wilderness’. In those days the trip to Tärnaby was long and troublesome, which didn’t stop tourists who were eager to experience the pristine wilderness. In 2001 the hostel was carefully renovated under expert supervision, including the museum of Västerbotten, in order to preserve its genuine character and history.

The hostel is beside the slopes of Laxfjället and close to hiking trails of varying lengths. The Kungsleden trail begins in Hemavan a few dozen kilometres away and there is a connection from Solberg, just 3 km from the hostel.
