Symbolförklaringar

In Riksgränsen there is often a thick layer of snow as early as November and this usually stays until into June. The deep snow, the high mountains and the warmth from the Gulf Stream make Riksgränsen a fantastic place for skiing, high above the tree line.

The skiing season lasts from the dull shimmer of midwinter lights that are reflected in the snow, right up until the midnight sun around midsummer. During the summer Riksgränsen offers exceptional rambling experiences along The Old Navvy Road trail (Rallarleden), with its memories from the Second World War – bunkers in the mountain, German staff buildings and sunken warships that can be seen above the surface of the water. The ramble ends with a meal of shrimps in Narvik before you make your way easily back to the hostel. There is also plenty of char in the mountain lakes and cloudberries in August, which offer rich opportunities for fishermen and berry-pickers.

The hostel rooms include a bathroom, TV and internet connection. There is also a gym and a well-equipped self-catering kitchen. The railway station is only 300 metres from the hostel and you can also drive here via the E10, but just look out for stray reindeer on the road.
