STF Sitasjaure is situated with a beautiful view of the mountain and Lake Sitasjaure. The lake’s reflection offers a colour spectrum from turquoise to black, all depending on the weather. Close to the hut is a Sámi camp and several old Sámi sacrificial sites.
Feel free to stay a few days and enjoy the quietness on shorter and longer tours. Not many automobiles travel on the gated road from Ritsem, but if you are lucky, you can get a ride if your legs gives out.
Ancient sites of the Stalo people can be found along the trail between Sitasjaure and Hukejaure. According to Sámi myth, the Stalo were ruthless, big, one-eyed, light skinned and clothed in iron armour. Wow!
