STF Mountain hut Sårsjåsjaure
‘Konsul Persson’s hut’ is on a peninsula with a majestic waterfall to the north and a beach of several hundred metres that starts some ten metres south of the hut. Glacier water in the lake glimmers a turquoise nuance depending on how the light falls.
The daughter to Konsul Persson, who was rather bored during her father’s stationing in Sulitelma, fell in love with this place and her father built her a hut here. The hut is therefore often called ‘Konsul Persson’s hut’. The hut was donated later on to STF by descendants of the daughter. Now under STF management, the hut receives hikers along the Nordkalott Trail.
The Nordkalott Trail goes along the beach of Lake Sårjusjaures, with a Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) hut at the other end of the lake.
Fishing, easier alpine tours and total relaxation of the most meditative kind are words that fit well to describe a stay here.

You cannot book a bed in a mountain hut. You are, however, guaranteed a roof over your head. There are extra mattresses for those days when all the beds are taken.
