STF Mountain hut Aktse
This STF mountain hut is on Laitaures north beach, near the old mountain farm Aktse. Known as the gate to Sarek, Kungsleden (Royal Trail) between Saltoluokta and Kvikkjokk passes right by here, directly outside the border to the national park.
If you’re in Aktse, the Skierfe cliff is a must. You will walk by Aktsekallio (nine stones) on the way up to Skierfe. The stones are an ancient and sacred place of sacrifice and it is said that nine bears have been killed here. With its almost 700 metres of vertical descent, the view from Skierfe over the Rapa River delta, Lake Laitaure and in to Sarek is magnificent.
The easiest way to visit STF Aktse is to take the road up from Tjåmotis to the Sito River bridge. From there, walk about ten kilometres along a forest road to the boat landing at the east end of Laitaure. The other way into Aktse is along Kungsleden, which passes right over Lake Laitaure. During the summer, a daily water taxi is available. Those who wish to give their arm muscles a workout can row, but bear in mind that the lake is big and very vulnerable to weather.

You cannot book a bed in a mountain hut. You are, however, guaranteed a roof over your head. There are extra mattresses for those days when all the beds are taken.
