On the border of the World Heritage area Laponia is Saltoluokta Mountain Station. The interior from 1918 is still almost intact, with open fires and vivid light in the restaurant. Welcome home to Saltoluokta!
A boat trip with M/S Langas takes you to the mountain station and to the summer camp of the Sirka Sámi people. This is a simplicity that makes Salto very popular among families with children and others, who want to enjoy their time in the mountains.
The local character is evident all over – even the kitchen lives up to these high expectations. In particular, the best of local produce is here and the fish for supper can very well be the catch of the day from the lake Langas outside of the dining room window.
People gladly stay here a little longer and enjoy the table’s delights, the surrounding ancient forests and steep mountains – on your own or with experienced guides.
