Winter tour to Kebnekaise, with snowshoes
Kebnekaise via the Eastern Trail, a mighty challenge in the winter! We hike up to Björling's glacier quiet and comfortable on snowshoes, continue up the climb with the snowshoes on your back and crampons on your feet. Climb the South Peak in winter without slippery skis and challenging off-piste skiing!
A normal tour to the summit along the Easten trail can look like this:
After the breakfast we meet at the sport department at 0745 and check the equipment one last time. We walk in snowshoes and walk in a relaxed pace toward Jökelbäckens estuary. After struggling ourselves up for Jökelbäcken we reach Björling's glacier, where we stop for a short lunch break. After the glacier we go for the climbing passage and are secured with fixed ropes. Once up at the top cabin is about 40 minutes walk to the summit. On the way down we stop and have coffee at the top cabin before heading back home to the mountain station.
