Being next to Sweden’s highest mountain requires a dose of humility. The mountain guides and wardens share a respect for nature’s forces. This year it is 100 years since the first guests came to Kebnekaise.
Your stay at the mountain lodge can offer demanding alpine tours, climbing courses on rock or ice, ski mountaineering, glacier walking and cross-country running over mountain moors. But it can also be almost spiritual with excursions in the valley under an open horizon, hikes along Kungsleden (King´s Trail), freedom and absolute calm.
After a day of wind, reflection and perhaps many metres of altitude, you can sit down in the warmth of a fire and dream a while. A delicious three-course meal awaits before you go for a good night’s sleep. Before your next tour, eat a hearty breakfast with baked bread.
STF has a long history at Kebnekaise and throughout the years, lasting traditions have developed. After 100 years, people still gather around the fire in the oldest part of the mountain lodge to share their thoughts after the day’s outings and give each other tips before the next adventure.
