Björkvattnet is located just 7 km from the Norwegian border in Frostviken, northwest Jämtland, and offers a variety of experiences and adventures in every season.

Summer is spectacular and autumn is even more beautiful, if that’s possible. When winter slowly turns to spring, the scenery is simply breathtaking.

The hostel is situated in what was once the village school and the fantastic environment that surrounds the hostel gives it a natural boost. There’s a host of accommodation options, from family rooms and cabins to outdoor tents. Guests also have access to well-equipped kitchens and a sauna.

There are great opportunities for fishing in Björkvattnet; during winter Björkvattensjön and a number of small forest lakes offer char and the occasional trout. The area also offers beaver safaris, hiking, jig fishing and boat and canoe hire. Take the opportunity to experience the Hällingsåfallet falls, in northern Europe’s largest canyon.

Accessibility for persons with disabilities

This symbol shows that the hostel conforms to recommendations from the De Handikappades Riksorganisation (DHR): the entrance is level, or there is a ramp with maximum gradient 5 cm/m. The front door of the hostel and doors into the guest rooms and toilets are wider than 80 cm. There is at least 80 cm free space at the side of the lavatory and 130 cm in front. The shower is suitable for use by persons with disabilities. There is wheelchair access to kitchens and common rooms. At least two rooms are suitable for use by persons with disabilities.
