Come and enjoy a friendly hotel that is just as suitable for families as it is for conferences. Enjoy our prepared ski trails and snowmobile routes, or hike, hunt and fish. Meet mountain cows, try dog sledding and eat well in the restaurant.

Åkersjön offers many activities. The well-prepared ski trails and snowmobile routes are there to be enjoyed in the winter, together with alpine skiing, ski orienteering, snowmobile safari and dog sledding. And in the summer, we have orienteering, hiking trails, nature paths, flower rambles, paths to the mountain meadows, Icelandic ponies, range-based golf, fishing and hunting. We have boats and canoes for rent, while those with an interest in mountain gourmet food might prefer to visit the village dairy or partake of local produce in the Fjällgården Restaurant.

The Fjällgården Restaurant has been selected by Smakriket Jämtland. This is an acknowledgement that we serve fine-tasting food made from local produce of the highest quality. We have complete menus with everything from a simple snack to gourmet dinners and wedding cakes. Everything you wish for can be yours.

Our traditional pub, Höglundarbaren, takes its name from “Höglundarna”, two workers who built the road to Åkersjön in the 1950s. The pub has become a meeting point in Åkersjön due to its character of mountain and wild country. Here you can also listen to troubadours and other popular artists, while the coffee table offers an abundance of traditional cakes and newly ground coffee.

Fjällhotellet lies in the centre of an active mountain village with roots in the 18th century, when the first pioneers came to start agriculture here, with a large number of mountain huts in use. Goats and mountain cows keep the meadows open here during the summer. And there are several attractions designated as Natura 2000 nature reserves, such as Oldflån-Ansätten, Storholmsjö and Margitbrännan.

The hotel was previously the village school, which was initially rebuilt to become a sports-based hotel. The national team of the Swedish Ski Association was among the users of the sports facilities, because Åkersjön always receives copious amounts of snow.
