STF Hostel Storliens Fjällgård

STF Storlien is beautifully located 580 metres above sea level, with wonderful views of Blåhammaren and Snasamassivet. You can start or finish your tour around the famous Jämtland triangle here. You might find the lost Caroliner soldiers’ war chest.

We are located in the heart of the mountains but, even so, have a railway and main road outside the door, and an international airport 40 minutes away.

Storlien alpine facility has 20 downhill runs offering everything from Green piste to Black piste, together with a large Fun Park. The surrounding mountains are stark and open, perfect for snowkiting and cross-country skiing. There are 60 km of prepared trails, Icelandic pony riding and dog-sled driving in the immediate vicinity.

At the end of the 19th century, Storlien was a renowned spa. Dr. Ernst Westerlund from Enköping founded Blomsterstigen, where patients were prescribed fell walking as part of their treatment. A healthy diet, fresh air and exercise were his remedy for many complaints. Blomsterstigen has been preserved almost intact from those days, with named benches along the complete path.

Caroliner monuments stand on many peaks close by, in memory of the 3,000 Caroliner soldiers who froze to death during the New Year period 1718-1719. For those thinking of getting married, we are neighbours with the wonderful little Storvallens Fjällkapell, with an altarpiece depicting the Snasarna mountain range.
