STF Mountain hut Gåsen
STF Gåsen is one of the country’s highest located mountain huts – 1,110 m.a.s.l. in a barren and isolated high mountain landscape. You get an excellent panoramic view from here over Helags mountains and Sylarna, prominently standing out in the horizon.
The hut is the centre between mountain stations to the west and mountain huts in the Vålådalen Nature Reserve. There is often snow in the area during the winter and the huts can be difficult to find at a distance. For years, snow has remained right into the summer season.
Hiking trails go from Gåsen in five directions. In Gåsen, there is also an old hiking trail between the Sámi camp in Tjallingen and Ljungris
Gåsen’s peak and Härjångstöten, perhaps the most magnificent peak in the area, are tempting and challenging ascents. At the peak, there is a box with a guest book for those who have gone all the way up. The western slope of Gåsen has rich, limestone flora.

You cannot book a bed in a mountain hut. You are, however, guaranteed a roof over your head. There are extra mattresses for those days when all the beds are taken.
