STF Mountain station Blåhammaren
STF’s highest located mountain lodge is a hit in several ways. A well-renowned kitchen and a famous fruit soup spiced with the gruesome story of a fateful crusade during the 1700s. Added to this a view that beats almost everything else.
Blåhammaren is located 1,086 m.a.s.l. with a view that extends to Sylarna, Helags and the Norwegian mountains along the border. A given evening outing is to make one’s way up Kläppen and look out over Enan’s meandering water in the bogs way below your feet.
From all over the map, people come here for the food, the longest sauna view in the mountain world and perhaps to also hear some scary stories from the place.
At six o’clock in the evening, a three-course meal is offered with a common sitting full of atmosphere. The supper is occasionally highlighted by the tale of how Armfeldt’s Caroleans (soldiers) were hit by a snowstorm during a march back over the mountains on New Year’s 1718-19. Over 3,000 men froze to death.
If this isn’t enough, you can also hear about the jealousy drama of the 1930s that ended in arson – the manager didn’t get burned.
