STF Hostel Tännäs

Tännäs sits like an alpine village on the southern slopes that line the Tännån river valley, on the edge of the southern-most mountain range in Sweden. Some of the country’s highest and most beautiful summits south of the Arctic Circle are here.

In addition to the stunning natural landscape, a larder of delicacies including cloudberries, chanterelle mushrooms, morels, game fish and small game can be enjoyed.

The hostel was built in 1907 and served as the village school up until the 1950s. It is situated in the middle of Sweden’s highest church village, 648 m above sea level. Delightful and relaxed accommodation is offered, either self-catering or full-board with dining at our restaurant.

Tännäs offers every type of outdoor activity. There are four alpine ski areas within half an hour’s drive, and plenty of opportunities for hiking and biking on the many marked trails. Fishing enthusiasts are well catered for, with hundreds of locations teeming with fish in nearby Tännäs.
