The STF Halmstad/Kaptenshamn hotel and hostel are in central Halmstad, right round the corner from the town’s culture and leisure. The Central Station is only a couple of minutes away, and our distinguished house from 1912 houses a cosy restaurant.

Halmstad has much to offer in the way of culture and activities, with shopping, restaurants, cinemas, theatres and bars. It also has extensive green parks and wonderful paths for strolling along by the Nissan harbour to the heart of Halmstad. There is much to do in Halmstad. Why not take the children to Äventyrsland or treat yourself to a day of culture visiting Mjellby art museum and admiring the collections of the Halmstad group?

Kaptenshamn hotel and hostel are housed in a building from 1912, when the Halmstad architect Uno Forthmeijer designed a beautiful building close to the sea for the longshoremen, who were thus able to have offices in the centre of the harbour, close to the mouth of the Nissan where port activity took place every day. It was intended that large sailing ships should have the opportunity to tie up alongside the newly extended port facilities. And active salmon were seen to be leaping the final waterfall of the stream before the ocean.

This symbol shows that the hostel conforms to recommendations from the De Handikappades Riksorganisation (DHR): the entrance is level, or there is a ramp with maximum gradient 5 cm/m. The front door of the hostel and doors into the guest rooms and toilets are wider than 80 cm. There is at least 80 cm free space at the side of the lavatory and 130 cm in front. The shower is suitable for use by persons with disabilities. There is wheelchair access to kitchens and common rooms. At least two rooms are suitable for use by persons with disabilities.
