Mellbystrand has a long tradition of welcoming visitors. The very first lived in the small fishing crofts along the beach. Today Mellbystrand is a summer paradise with Sweden’s longest beach and a wide range of activities to enjoy.

The hostel is situated in a garden dotted with buildings which were once a children's summer camp. There is a summer café on the premises and nearby there's an outdoor pool, golf and tennis courts as well as excellent restaurants. It's only around a hundred metres to the beach and ocean baths from the hostel. Keen anglers flock to nearby Lake Lagan, which is one of the country’s best fishing spots for salmon and trout. A bicycle path passes right outside the hostel that leads to Laholm and Halmstad, while a simple walk along the beach is a wonderful experience — either by the waterline or among the hilly sand dunes.

The front door of the hostel and doors into the guest rooms and toilets are wider than 80 cm. There is at least 80 cm free space at the side of the lavatory and 130 cm in front. The shower is suitable for use by persons with disabilities. There is wheelchair access to kitchens and common rooms. At least two rooms are suitable for use by persons with disabilities.
