Åmål is the world’s second best city. The silver medal in the international competition testifies to how Åmål successfully works in letting nature and the cultural heritage be a part of the city.
The genuine city centre meets Lake Vänern right downtown and the guest harbour is only a stone’s throw away from the square. STF Hostel in Åmål is centrally located with a view over all this beauty. The house was built in 1899 and was until the 1950’s the city’s epidemic hospital. Here you will stay in two-bed or multi-bed rooms and there is a kitchen for self-catering, TV room and dining room.
Åmål is a neighbour of the idyllic Tösse archipelago which attracts visitors with beautiful nature and bare islets. Outside Åmål, there is the Sörknatten nature reserve and if you are familiar with the fable, it is best to look out for rumphobs and grey dwarfs. Ronja the Robber’s Daughter was set in these surroundings and here you will find Hell’s Gap and the location of the Castle of Mattis.
