STF Hostel Älvdalen
Älvdalen’s charm is easy to fall for. Beautifully situated fäbodar (pastoral huts), flowing streams, forest grazing fjällkor (mountain cows) and goats take you a century back in time.
In winter there are great opportunities for cross-country skiing in the forest that lines the mountain slopes. The most renowned is the Vasaloppet, the oldest and most popular cross-country ski race in the world, which weaves its way mostly through Älvdalen’s forests. During the summertime Älvdalen offers plenty of fishing opportunities and the chance to experience the great outdoors on horseback.
At the hostel you stay in a turn-of-the-century environment in charming rooms with a personal touch. The hostel is run by archaeologists who are happy to arrange wilderness excursions to ancient monuments and Stone Age settlements. After a wonderful day in the wild, please feel free to enjoy the wood-fired sauna.
