Grövelsjön – Tänndalen

Hiking rich in variation from Grövelsjön north via the Rogen Nature Reserve and onward to Tänndalen. The tour is quite comparable to the more high alpine hikes in Jämtland and Lappland, both regarding wilderness feel and difficulty. Steady legs and boots are needed on the rather rocky trails.

Most hikers begin at STF Grövelsjön Mountain Station. A place that was carefully chosen during the 1930s, the scenery over the lake is magical with the same name and Norwegian mountains to the west. Around the corner are bare mountain regions like Storvätteshågna, the highest peak in Svealand.

A good tip is to add a few extra days to the tour and stay in one of STF’s mountain huts in the Rogen area. A forested, pine-tree scented moraine landscape with many small lakes and the large Lake Rogen. Perfect for paddling and fishing. Take the opportunity to climb Skedbrofjäll for a sight of the labyrinth-like area.
