Tjärö is one of the most beautiful islands in Blekinge. The island is a nature reserve and a ‘Bullerby’ in miniature. Bullerby is the imaginary village in Astrid Lindgren’s book series Barnen i Bullerbyn, ‘The Children of Noisy Village’.
Time stands still on Tjärö, and this natural, romantic idyll charms adults and children alike. It’s a paradise for all ages, from the classic red houses and horse-drawn tractor collecting luggage at the quay, to the delicious coffee and freshly baked buns, picturesque old barn and unspoiled surroundings.
Guests are accommodated in the atmospheric hostel which is filled with 18th and 19th century features. The cosy archipelago charm is all around, with breathtaking views and the smell of salt water at your doorstep. The hostel has around 100 beds spread across a number of buildings as well as cottages that may be rented. There’s plenty to do on Tjärö, from simply relaxing, sunbathing and swimming to renting kayaks and rowboats… or how about experiencing a floating sauna?
