STF Hostel Härnösand/Snibben
The hostel is situated two kilometres from the impressive High Coast Bridge. Here you experience a moose safari, take a boat trip or rent a canoe.
And you can easily take advantage of the entire selection of natural and cultural experiences offered by The High Coast World Heritage Site. A day trip to the fishing village Bönhamn is highly recommended, and you could continue on to Högbond to see the lighthouse. A slightly longer boat trip will take you to the island Ulvön, the home of fermented Baltic herring.
A trip on dry land could lead you to the mountain, Skuleberget, where you can climb up to robbers’ caves or take the aerial cableway to the top and enjoy an extensive view. Here also is Skuleskogen’s National Park with its rubble stone field, the red rapakivi granite and the fantastic deep and narrow crevice, Slåttdalsskrevan. You could also travel up to Ådalen to see monuments to the log floating and forestry industries, or to the open-air museum, Mannaminne in Nordingrå, which also arranges concerts and cultural activities.
The hostel is an old doctor’s house that has recently been renovated. The rooms are light and airy and in the nearby nature reserve, Rotsidan, there is an impressive stony beach. There you will find beautiful stone slabs, perfect for sunbathing in the summer, side by side with crumbled rocks that are a reminder of the strength of the autumn storms.
